Life Sciences South Florida

Technology. Talent. Research.

Life Sciences South Florida (LSSF) is a consortium of institutions, including universities, colleges, economic development agencies, research institutes and industry for whom the life sciences are a key part of their focus.

The goal of stimulating South Florida’s economic growth in the life sciences occurs by linking the elements of the innovation ecosystem: research, entrepreneurship, venture capital and life sciences companies.  LSSF strives to increase research density and accelerate research commercialization. Additionally, the life sciences workforce required to support economic innovation is strengthened by enhancing K-20 STEM education and talent development in the region. LSSF works to provide programming and connectivity to foster all of these elements.

LSSF also facilitates the sharing of high-tech equipment and guides the development of a skilled biotechnology workforce capable of supporting cutting-edge research and commercial innovation, paving the way for a resilient economy by generating stable and sustainable employment.

STEM Undergraduate Research Symposium

In 2021, the regional symposium will be held virtually. Attend as a guest or present as a student researcher! The 8th Annual Life Sciences South Florida STEM Undergraduate Research Symposium will showcase the scientific work of South Florida’s undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) students. Participants gain valuable experience, presentation skills, and recognition by their peers, local colleges and universities.

Each virtual presentation session will include STEM researchers and experts who will engage student presenters. This year in the virtual conference all students/student groups selected to present will prepare a 3-minute research pitch (3MT style)  followed by Q & A. Check the 3MT Competitor Guide to learn more about how to draft, create a slide, and practice presenting for a 3-minute research pitch.
