Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships, FIU Engagement
James Knapp is the Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships at Florida International University’s Office of Engagement. In this role, Knapp serves as the lead relationship builder for the university to assist in strategically connecting FIU with partners in the community.
James manages and oversees some of FIU’s most important initiatives, including Life Sciences South Florida, the Talent Development Network, the FIU Veterans Initiative, the Engagement Advisory Council, the Puerto Rico Task Force and FIU’s municipal partnerships. In addition, James is the university lead on identifying and establishing new relationships, initiatives and partnerships in key areas.
James serves as the vice chair of Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) Disruption Taskforce overseeing the Technology and Entrepreneurship Committees. James also serves on the GMCC Sports and Education Committees. He also serves as a Board Member of the Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Recently, James was appointed to lead the FIU Puerto Rico Task Force, and has been charged with overseeing the university’s relief efforts and developing strategies to help hundreds of displaced Puerto Rican students and faculty.
